Downtown Business Association:

As part of the Downtown Business Association, the Chamber is working with the Association in promoting the various businesses in and around Pickens. This past June, the Association sponsored several musical concerts in Legacy Square ranging from gospel music to bluegrass. The Association is looking for a variety of ideas in an effort attract people to the downtown area.

At the Association’s July meeting the group discussed the creation of a vision planning process for Pickens. In conjunction with the City of Pickens, the Association will take the steps necessary to develop a vision plan for Pickens. This effort will include input from the community as well as from the business community.

Pickens Airport:

If you have not visited the Pickens County Airport, you need to. From the design of the building to the staff, it is truly a first class facility. The Herbert Jones Terminal is an airport resource that all of Pickens County can take pride in. The terminal is designed to provide for the safety and comfort of the public. Prospective businesses will find the airport is a gateway for discovering Pickens County.

From the S. C. District Office of U. S. Small Business Administration:

The Small Business Administration has introduced a new Recovery Act initiation called America’s Recovery Care Capital, or ARC Loan Program. This program is a 100 percent SBA-guaranteed loan of up to $35,000 to help small businesses facing financial hardship repaying business obligations. The loan is interest- free to the borrower and repayment does not begin 12 months after the loan has been disbursed. The loan carries a repayment term of five years. ARC loans will be available until Sept. 30, 2010 or until funding runs out. NOTE: In addition to standard forms, borrowers must obtain a DUNS number, which can be obtained for free at https://fedgovdnb.com/webform or by calling (866)705-5711.

Pickens Chamber:

The Greater Pickens Chamber of Commerce is a private, non-profit business organization financially supported by area businesses and community members to enhance and improve the business climate and quality of life within Pickens and surrounding areas.
